Concordia Services When you choose to store and service your boat with Concordia, you start a relationship with many skilled professionals. Our employees are career oriented, and many have been with Concordia for a long time. This translates to some tangible and intangible benefits for our customers. High quality work is the norm. Further, you'll hear from your Primary Customer Contact with suggestions and recommendations for your boat based on knowledge and experience and the fact that they are looking out for your best interest. When you have a challenge, you will have many thoughtful problem solvers working together to come up with the best plan. From an intangible standpoint, if you have time and choose to interact with our crew, your learning curve will steepen, which will increase your confidence and in many cases lead to more enjoyment on your boat. While our employees are assigned to specific departments many of our employees are at times asked to work outside of their departments. In our business, cross-training is a key to becoming a long-term employee, and our focus is developing and maintaining long-term employees. It is the key to consistent quality. Mechanics Headed by foreman Paul Robbins, 15 year Concordia veteran, our 4 mechanics are certified and schooled on Yanmar, Westerbeke, Volvo, and Universal engines. Dennis Brightman & Harley Mersing have each been with Concordia for 5-10 years. New addition Dan Nadeau comes with 10 years experience from a local marine business including a focus on outboard work. We have excellent diagnosticians, saving you money with efficiency, and improving your mechanical systems. We regularly install and service systems including engines, raw and fresh water plumbing, electrical and battery systems, generators, heaters, stoves, fuel and filtration systems. Another goal of ours is to help customers understand their own mechanical systems, and we routinely travel to help customers. Carpentry Our carpentry department is now headed by Dave Strecker. Though he's only been with us for four years, Dave sets a high standard for both quality and efficiency. On his second career, building has always been a passion for Dave, which led him to IYRS and into professional boat carpentry. Chris Hall is a 8 year Concordia veteran who came from IYRS. Richard Emory has been with Concordia for 5 years and is a graduate of the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding (Port Townsend, WA). Luis Pinho has been with us for 4 years and has 20+ years of boatbuilding experience. We are regularly engaged in major restorations on Concordia Yawls and other wooden classics. We have vast experience in repairing and building custom interior joinery. We also regularly repair and build wooden masts, replace teak decks, troubleshoot deck leaks, and re-bed deck hardware. We are capable and confident of tackling any marine carpentry project that will improve your yachting experience. Fiberglass Concordia's Fiberglass Shop and Awl-Grip & Dupont Spray Shop are led by foreman Scott Rudolph who had 20+ years of boatbuilding experience before joining Concordia 7 years ago. Before running our glass department, he was our head carpenter for 3 years. Scott has great talent in all aspects of fiberglass work. Justin Tetrault has been with Concordia for 3 years and works in all aspects of the department. Our technicians have the talent to fabricate parts or repair your boat. With in-house skilled professionals specializing in repairs from storm damage and the occasional encounter with underwater obstacles, we can rebuild your boat to its previous strength and cosmetic appearance. We also provide complete blister and bottom core repair, and we wax and detail many of our storage boats in the spring prior to commissioning. For a beautiful Awlgrip job that will endure not only salt water but also ultra violet rays and corrosion with minimum maintenance, bring your boat to Concordia. Paint Our Paint Department is led by Hillary Sterne who has been in the industry for 25 years and at Concordia for 8. Brian Andrews has been with Concordia for 12 years, Brian Pickup for 6, Brian Granfield for 4 and Chris Hebert also for 4. Doug Gibson has been with us for 2 years. We work with both modern and traditional finishes including Awlgrip, West Systems, Epifanes, Interlux, Petit, Sikkens Cetol & Deks Olie. Although we work on all types of vessels, our painters take particular pride in the care of wooden boats. We also regularly strip and refinish boat bottoms. Our efficient and highly skilled painters will get your boat looking her best and keep her well protected. Rigging Concordia's crew is led by life long sailor Matt Smith with 5 years experience at the boatyard. Charlie White is a highly overqualified assistant rigger as he comes from Alden & previously the Herreshoff Museum. Expert attention to all details, no matter the boat, is evident only in a crew of knowledgeable and experienced riggers well versed in the art of sailing. Concordia riggers are always inspecting the gear they work with. Service recommendations are made in the Fall. Service performed helps efficiency in set-up in the Spring and trouble free sailing. Custom Rigging & Fabricating We make traditional rigging to order. We splice wire and line and count many local traditional boatyards as our customers. Joe Almeida has been with Concordia for 10 years. He is incredibly talented with his hands and he can make anything you need but can't find. Hauling & Launching Concordia hauls and launches many boats at the Dartmouth Town Landing with Brownell Systems. Our riggers, mechanics, and primary service contacts act on behalf of the owners in bringing boats to the trailers. In order to get your boat onto our property for maintenance, repair, and restoration, we will work with Brownell to haul and launch from ramps between Newport and Hingham. Deeper draft boats are hauled and launched in Padanaram at Davis & Tripp. Mooring Service Our Mooring Boat FETCHER is run by 20 year Concordia vet Jeff Simmons and mate Scott Amaral. We offer commissioning, decommissioning, inspection, and installation. We have 65 years of experience in the mooring field, we are in the harbor every day. Concordia has approximately 155 moorings in Padanaram Harbor which are rented out. We manage a wait list for filling vacancies.
