Clearwater Canvas opened for business in 1987 and specialized in marine canvas and frame bending and was considered a leader in the marine canvas industry. Now retired from this part of the business, the company’s founder, Tom Hunter, is a Master Fabric Craftsman certified by the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI). He is past Chairman of the Board for the Marine Fabricators Association (MFA), a division of the IFAI and holds a BS degree in Engineering from Northeastern University. His expertise is frequently called upon as a speaker at MFA seminars and conventions both regionally and nationally. Tom is also the recipient of eleven National Fabrication Excellence Awards for the Company’s projects. Over the years Tom met many other marine canvas fabricators through the MFA and saw that many of them struggled with frame bending. As a result, in 2000 he combined his engineering background and some software programming to create EZ-Frame. Throughout the years the program has improved and evolved into today’s EZ-Frame Plus, a cloud-based innovative simple-to-use software program that takes the guesswork out of building boat top frames. The company now focuses most of its energy on assisting other marine canvas manufacturing companies achieve greater success by offering our proprietary software, publications, bending equipment and other unique fabricator tools through our Online Store.
